About Dr. Sacoman

Dr. Damen Sacoman earned his medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Martin Luther King Jr./Charles R. Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine and trauma at Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute in Nevada. Dr. Sacoman is board certified in orthopedic surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Sacoman has roots in New Mexico with family from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Mescalero. He has practiced orthopedics in Albuquerque since 2005, working in the Lovelace and Presbyterian health systems and previously with Optum New Mexico. He has served as a Team Physician for Albuquerque Public Schools and is the Team Physician for the New Mexico Gladiators football club.
Dr. Sacoman believes a compassionate, team-based approach works best for orthopedic care. He takes time to educate patients about all surgical and non-surgical options and includes family members and high-quality physical and occupational therapists when appropriate.
