ABQ Surgery Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing services and clinical operations. The DON will provide clinical and operational leadership in a fast-paced, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while leading and developing a dedicated nursing team.
What you'll do
- Lead, mentor, and manage nursing and clinical teams within a multi-specialty surgical setting
- Oversee daily clinical operations and ensure safe, efficient patient care throughout the surgical process
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, staff competencies, education, and performance
- Monitor and manage clinical supplies and resources to support efficient operations
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and administrative leadership
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and clinical standards as needed
- Drive quality improvement and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience, clinical efficiency, and operational performance
- Serve as the clinical leader and primary resource for nursing staff, providers, patients, and families
- Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
What we're looking for
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of surgical workflows, sedation practices, infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory/accreditation standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate clinical teams
- Excellent communication, organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, clinical staff, patients, and administrative leadership
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence
Nice to have
- Master’s degree
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or multi-specialty surgical setting
